Somewhere there's someone who dreams of your smile,
and finds in you.... that life is worth while.
So when you are lonely, remember it's true
Somebody somewhere is thinking of you.

I just finished a book on Thomas Edison here are a few quotes that I liked.

There is no substitute for hard work.
Thomas Edison

Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
Thomas Edison

Faith, as well intentioned as it may be, must be built on facts, not fiction-faith in fiction is a damnable false hope.
Thomas Edison

The only time I really become discouraged is when I think of all the things I would like to do and the little time I have in which to do them.
Thomas Edison

I have friends in overalls whose friendship I would not swap for the favor of the kings of the world.
Thomas Edison

The three things that are most essential to achievement are common sense, hard work and stick-to-it-iv-ness.
Thomas Edison

Nearly every man who develops an idea works at it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then gets discouraged. That's not the place to become discouraged.
Thomas Edison

I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others. I find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent.
Thomas Edison

We shall have no better conditions in the future if we are satisfied with all those which we have at present.
Thomas Edison

I love you soooo much...   remember there are two sides to every coin....
you can judge a tree(person) by the fruit that it bears...
Resist the creation of drama for drama sake... it is an infectious disease.

When you get to the point in life where you start to considering who you want to spend the rest of your life with My greatest advice is find someone who you are equally yoked with...someone who is as intelligent, spiritual, loving as you are.  the biblical principal is very solid.  A yoke was a tool used by farmers before tractors... it was placed between two oxen (sometimes horses) the yoke was balanced between them and if they were of equal strength things went very smoothly.  if not they went in a circle or worse injured one or both. watch the short video and try to imagine if one of the oxen were alot stronger...

These are from a founding father.  taken from the Franklin reader

Well done is better than well said.
Benjamin Franklin

If you know how to spend less than you get, you have the philosopher's stone.
Benjamin Franklin

At 20 years of age the will reigns; at 30 the wit; and at 40 the judgment.
Benjamin Franklin

Employ thy time well, if thou meanest to get leisure.
Benjamin Franklin

He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money.
Benjamin Franklin

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.
Benjamin Franklin

Hide not your talents, they for use were made. What's a sun-dial in the shade?
Benjamin Franklin

If you would be wealthy, think of saving as well as getting.
Benjamin Franklin

You may delay, but time will not.
Benjamin Franklin

Genius without education is like silver in the mine.
Benjamin Franklin

He that lives upon hope will die fasting.
Benjamin Franklin

Love is like a mustard seed;
planted by God
and watered by men
Praying for you daily
remember:  Your talent is God's gift to you.
What you do with it is your gift back to God.

I have always had big dreams...
When choosing a path remember that all men and women who have achieved great things
have been great dreamers.  this has truly been the secrete to much of my success.

Do it trembling if you must,
but do it !

Wise Words:
Never will I allow my heart to become small and bitter, rather I will share it and it will grow and warm the earth.

Never will I allow my mind to be attracted to evil and despair, rather I will uplift it with the knowledge and wisdom of the ages.

Never will I allow my soul to become complacent and satisfied, rather I will
feed it with meditation and prayer.

Never will I labor to be happy; rather will I remain too busy to be sad.

Never will I overindulge the requests of my flesh, rather I will cherish my body with cleanliness and moderation.

Never will I scratch for excuses to gossip.

No longer shall my vocabulary include such words as cannot, unable, impossible, and quit.

No longer will I fail to call again tomorrow on he who meets me with hate today.

Obstacles are necessary for success.

Only a habit can subdue another habit.

Only action determines my value in the market place.

Only with laughter and happiness can I enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Only with laughter and happiness can you truly become a success.

People will always respond positively to joy and enthusiasm.

Persist and develop your skills as the mariner develops his, by learning to ride out the wrath of each storm.

Persist with the knowledge that each failure to sell will increase your chance for success at the next attempt.

Ronald Reagan

A people free to choose will always choose peace.
Ronald Reagan

Facts are stubborn things.

Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music.

Ronald Reagan

here is my strategy for winning the cold war...  we win, they lose

I miss you kiddo,  when I think of you in jr high.  I think of the difficulty I had in jr high...  I always seemed out of place...  kind of like I didn't fit in.
It seems that most kids are so immature some are just flat out mean.  I hope you are not experiencing the same things.... but if you are know that you are not alone.  also know that jr high will not last for ever.  when you are an adult all that matters is that you kept your integrity.

A champion is someone who gets up,
even when he can't.
- Jack Dempsey -  a great boxer

Take pride in ownership...not renting.  It is foolish to pay rent your whole life.  Why pay someone else's mortgage?

Work for yourself if at all possible....better to work for profits than wages...

As you consider professions...keep in mind for you body's sake... try to find a carrier path that exercises you brain more than your back. (the human body gets old quick)

Destroy procrastination with action.

Mr. Churchill (my most favorite person in history.) I hope you find him as interesting as I do.

A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject.
Sir Winston Churchill

A love for tradition has never weakened a nation, indeed it has strengthened nations in their hour of peril.
Sir Winston Churchill

All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
Sir Winston Churchill

Although prepared for martyrdom, I preferred that it be postponed.
Sir Winston Churchill

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.
Sir Winston Churchill

Broadly speaking, the short words are the best, and the old words best of all.
Sir Winston Churchill

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.
Sir Winston Churchill

From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.
Sir Winston Churchill He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.
Sir Winston Churchill

It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.
Sir Winston Churchill

It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.
Sir Winston Churchill

It's not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what's required.
Sir Winston Churchill

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.
Sir Winston Churchill

Never hold discussions with the monkey when the organ grinder is in the room.
Sir Winston Churchill

Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.
Sir Winston Churchill

One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.
Sir Winston Churchill

Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.
Sir Winston Churchill

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
Sir Winston Churchill

The price of greatness is responsibility.
Sir Winston Churchill

The reserve of modern assertions is sometimes pushed to extremes, in which the fear of being contradicted leads the writer to strip himself of almost all sense and meaning.
Sir Winston Churchill

There are a terrible lot of lies going around the world, and the worst of it is half of them are true.

love you,

I have several letters I have written you I will post them soon.   some I am going to wait until you are a little bit older.
I am sure you have heard that saying every cloud has a silver lining.  (yes corny I know)
I know that this entire situation has been rough.  I encourage you to find positive in it though.
do not wallow in self pity find good in every situation.   somewhere in romans it is written that all thing work for the good for those who love god.  as an example of how I have used this situation to bring about good is.... I have developed a peace and patience,  I still see how the present is important, but to have vision of long term goals...  I.E. our relationship in the future.... even if it is not until you become an adult and leave home.  to have that peace is amazing.  your mind is a powerful thing use it to focus on the positive...one positive I can see in this for you is a greater level of stability...when you were going back and forth from parent to parent it was very difficult.  your mother and I have such different views, morals, rules, values, structure, and lifestyle that the constant back and forth was painful... now I pray that you can have and develop the peace and concentrate on being a kid...  someday I am confident that you and I will rejoin as father and daughter.   I surely look forward to that day...  I love you Ashley keep your head up you have great inner strength.

My grandfather said you can either look at things as stumbling blocks or stepping stones.  they are the same it is just how you receive them...

remember two sides to every coin.

love,
dad

PS guess what???    :)

I am looking to add a couple of new pages to this web site.
family and friends have requested a page that they can post letters to...
I am also thinking of a couple of additional pages..
The first page is strictly a joke and riddle page?
The second is a photo page that way you can keep up with what is going on in our life.

"Carpe diem" is a phrase from a Latin poem by Horace It is popularly translated as "seize the day". The general definition of carpe is "pick, pluck, pluck off, gather" as in plucking or picking a rose or apple, although Horace uses the word in the sense of "enjoy,

thus Ashley Carpe diem.

'Before they call, I will answer.' (Isaiah 65:24)

corny but true...."Life is not measured by
the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments
that take our breath away."

Ali is one of my favorite people in history....here are some of my favorites quotes from Ali.

Hating people because of their color is wrong.
And it doesn't matter which color does the hating.
It's just plain wrong.
Mohammad Ali
Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach
down to the bottom of his soul and
come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even.

To be able to give away riches is mandatory if you wish to possess them.
This is the only way that you will be truly rich.”

Mohammad Ali
The man who has no imagination has no wings.”

And once that belief becomes a deep conviction,
things begin to happen.

Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.

Plato
Virtue is not left to stand alone. He who practices it will have.
Confucius

this has been said many times and many ways...I think this is the best.
Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached,
don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.
Confucius

Henry Ford
Time and money spent in helping men to do more for themselves is far better than mere giving.

Albert Einstein
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.
Albert Einstein
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.
Albert Einstein
Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school.
Albert Einstein
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
